
Members of the Women's Chorale will build strong choral skills and the group will produce quality music productions. The chorale performs a minimum of two to a maximum of five major productions a year. Specific dress is required; this may involve the purchase of various individual props and costume. Rehearsals and performances outside of the regular school day are required. Student employment is not an excuse for missing a rehearsal or performance. This class will count toward the Fine and Performing Arts graduation requirement.

This is a mixed choir (males and females). All interested males may audition. Females must also audition but must be a member of another LSHS class or another high school’s choir program. Individuals will build strong basic choral skills and the group will produce quality musical productions. The choir performs a minimum of two to a maximum of five major productions a year. This course is an auditioned, very select group of women. This three- and four-part treble ensemble will consist of young women (many of whom take voice lessons) with one or more years of choral experience in a high school setting, or participants may be selected under the discretion of the director. Women’s Glee Club performs advanced classical, sacred, secular, and show choir selections. Dance and movement are an important part of their performances when appropriate. Specific dress is required for all of the women. This choral organization will display an excellent knowledge of sight-reading, voice quality, and a desire to perform music that requires artistic preparation. All aspects of choral music are stressed and applied. This group performs three to five major performances a year. In addition, school functions, ceremonies, and community functions are a part of this group’s responsibilities. Note that outside-school rehearsals and performances are required of all members and attendance is mandatory. Student employment is not an excuse for missing rehearsals and performances. Specific dress is required. Competitions in and out of state are attended. The national competition is not required but strongly recommended for the members of this group. In addition, they tour the school district once or twice a year to recruit new choir members. Auditions for this group take place in January/February.

This is a very select, auditioned SATB show choir course. Voice lessons are encouraged. One or more years of choral experience are required, or participants may be selected up to the discretion of the director. Shorian Singers perform advanced vocal selections from classical to popular music. Show choir music is a major focus of the repertoire. Dance and movement are an integral part of each performance and/or program. Specific dress is required for both men and women. Numerous performances outside of school are an important and required component of this group. This group annually attends a national competition to highlight their year. All members must attend. A student cannot be a member of the course unless they attend the national competition. The Shorian Singers also perform at three to five major performances a year – Holiday, Broadway, Spring etc. In addition, they tour the school district once or twice a year to recruit new choir members. Auditions for this course take place in January/February, and consist of a solo and dance routine.
