  • Student Council has done:

    • Made tie blankets donated to Children’s Hospital
    • KMS Talent Show

  • The National Junior Honor Society has done the following:
    • Bake Sale on Curriculum Night-Proceeds donated to help KMS students attend 6th Grade Camp
    • Trick or Treat for UNICEF
    • Toy Drive-Toys donated to the Lighthouse Outreach Center in Roseville
    • Charity Sucker Sale-Proceeds this year going to the Michigan Humane Society (in previous years we have donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Karmanos, The Haitian Relief Fund, MDA)
    • NJHS members volunteer their time at Kennedy Parent/Teacher Conferences and Curriculum Night
    • NJHS members often help out at the elementary schools
  • 2010-11 Kennedy Middle School Basketball team went 12-0!
  • 2011-11 was a great year for the KMS Band:

    7th gr. Concert Band received a straight First Division ("I") rating at the MSBOA District 16 Band Festival.

    8th gr. Wind Ensemble received an overall First Division ("I") rating at the MSBOA District 16 Band Festival

    The Jazz Ensemble received a straight First Division ("I") rating at the MSBOA State Jazz Festival.

    Kennedy has the only middle school band program in Michigan to receive ratings this high in BOTH jazz and concert band groups.

    The Jazz Ensemble performed at the non-competitive Thornapple Jazz Festival in Hastings, and participated in a clinic session by Dr. Brian Coyle.

    The 8th gr. Wind Ensemble toured Chicago, IL in April for three days, and participated in a clinic session at VanderCook College with Dr. Charles Menghini.  Dr. Menghini praised the ensembles abilities and said that he greatly enjoyed working with them.

  • We held a Scholastic Book Fair.
  • We observed a Teen Read Week.
  • We have a Book-of-the-Month Club.
  • W.A.L.K. (We Are Literate Kids) is a program in which students listen to audio books while walking. The program is made possible by a grant from the Lake Shore Foundation for Educational Excellence.
  • We have a school-wide recycling initiative.
  • Over 100 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls attended the "Career Exploration Symposium for Middle School Girls in Mathematics, Science, and Technology” at the Macomb Intermediate School District.
