Points of Pride:

  • 49 students graduated from North Lake High School in June of 2009.

  • Helen Buyse, North Lake’s school social worker, received the St. Clair Shores Educator of the Year award for 2008-09.

  • North Lake student Julie Charbeneau received the Optimist Club Scholarship, Melissa Martin received the Lac Ste. Claire and Shorewood Kiwanis scholarships, and other students received scholarships from Baker College and Macomb Community College.

  • During the school year, North Lake students participated in a variety of school events, including: a flag football tournament, powder puff football, a Halloween hallway-decorating contest, Thanksgiving luncheon, Christmas hallway-decorating contest, Penny Wars and other events. North Lake students also conducted several canned food and clothing drives for shelters and organizations in Macomb County.

  • In the face of adversity, the students of North Lake High School worked to assist the family of Mrs. Karen Gross, our mathematics teacher who passed away. Students created memory photo collages and other items for the family in honor of Mrs. Gross.

  • When a North Lake High School student, Devon Spurlock, tragically passed away, students donated their time and effort to assist the family of Devon, as well as the families of the other Lake Shore students who perished in the car accident in March.

  • North Lake students participated in the "Paper People" program sponsored by CARE. Students went to elementary schools and presented information about substance abuse to the elementary students in a manner that they understood.

  • North Lake students participated in a variety of assemblies during the school year ranging from substance abuse to a suicide prevention assembly held in conjunction with Lake Shore High School.
