Points of Pride
- LSHS has been accredited by the North Central Assoc. every year since 1925.
- A group of LSHS students visited China in April 2009, as part of a partnership between Lake Shore and a school in Beijing. Also, a group of students from the German classes will be visiting Germany in the spring of 2010.
- LSHS, along with all the other schools in the district, proudly made Adequate Yearly Progress last year
- Agreement with neighboring schools which allow students the opportunity to take unique classes offered here at LSHS or neighboring schools; for example, building trades, culinary arts, child care, auto body repair, etc. As part of this agreement, LSHS offers Graphic Arts, Pre-Medical & Dental Careers, Business Service Technology, T.V. & Radio Broadcasting, Marketing, and Building Maintenance.
- Many LSHS students attend MMST (Macomb Mathematics, Science, & Technology Center); students are selected solely by merit, only those students that test in the top 3 percentile are considered (200 accepted)
- We offer several advanced-placement classes in which students may earn college credit
- LSHS offers select online courses
- Dual enrollment opportunities in which students take college classes while attending high school and earn both high school & college credit free of charge
- Articulation agreements with MCCC, Ferris State , Baker College , Davenport
- 80% of student body continue their education after high school
- Continual replacement program that keeps our technology up to date
- Award-winning and highly competitive band & choral programs
- School store is managed and operated solely by students
- Art students annually compete in the Michigan and National Scholastic Art Awards Competition
- Athletic teams have won numerous sportsmanship awards and individual athletes have received city, county, and state awards
- Most of our student athletes maintain a 3.0 GPA
- In 2008-09, our baseball and softball teams were co-champs of the MAC White. The Boys Bowling Team won the MAC Blue. Also, the Boys Basketball Team won the MAC Silver.
- LSHS is the only school in Macomb County to have ever won a boy's basketball state championship.
